Since 1890, the U.S. Government has a long history of Military interventions in foreign countries and within our own borders. U.S. intervention has taken many forms including direct intervention, disguised intervention, giving military weapons, providing money for military use, covert operations, political assassinations, and the use of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons. Such interventions are made under the guise of protecting freedom, though there is often another hidden agenda that involves the profit of the war machine. The genocide of indigenous Americans and American citizens was the beginning of American government intervention in sovereign nations. Decades later the suspicious attack on Pearl Harbor allowed for U.S. involvement in WWII. The Korean War and Vietnam wars were both failed operations that made the American war profiteers boatloads of money and power. Over decades the war profiteers infiltrated the U.S. Government to increase their stronghold and control over U.S. Military interventions When President Harry Truman signed the National Security Act of 1947, war hawks further strengthened their control. The National Security Act combined the Department of War and the Department of the Navy after World War II and put that under the leadership of the Secretary of Defense. The Department of the Air Force was created and the Department of War was renamed the Department of Defense. All war related activities were moved under unified leadership of the DOD and the National Security Council was created to provide a military pipeline direct to the President. With a larger military and a strategic advisor in the President’s cabinet, the Pentagon was able to gain expand their power and initiate their own agendas. In 1981, President Ronald Reagan signed Executive Order 12333 extending power and responsibilities of US Intelligence agencies and re-opened the door for U.S. covert involvement in foreign government leadership. The USA increased their covert operations under Reagan, leading the way for covert operations across Central America, South America, and the Middle East and opening the door for huge military operations such as the 2003 Military Operation in Iraq. With the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, private contractors became government officials and helped plan the war and the profiteering. As former CEO of Halliburton and Vice President, Dick Cheney helped his former company profit over Fifty Billion Dollars, greatly fattening his own bank accounts in the process.
